Nanolayers  – SME – Tallinn (EST)

Nanolayers is an SME operating Europe with a commercial interest in the digitalization of research and development. Their focus is on developing novel computational and machine learning techniques that can be applied to discover novel safe materials and automate processes for a wide range of technological applications. Nanolayers provides state-of-the-art multi-scale modelling, advanced optimization algorithms, and bespoke machine learning to identify structure in complex datasets and develop automation routines. These solutions are integrated into LabCore, a digital research and data management platform.

Within the ARCTIC project, Nanolayers coordinates the work within WP2 while focusing on modelling of oxide materials and defects. They aim to improve the fundamental understanding of ARCTIC materials, the behavior of defects at interfaces, and the origin of disorder in these systems. This will be achieved through a combination of molecular dynamics simulations, density functional theory calculations, and bespoke machine learning tools. Results from these simulations will be combined with characterization and measurements performed at TNO and applied within the TCAD software developed by NanoAcademic Technologies. In addition, Nanolayers will collaborate with QuantrolOx on machine learning algorithm development as well as automation workflows for analyzing large volumes of data produced by high throughput characterization techniques.
